If you have warehouse facilities, European standard DIN EN 15635 and regulations on health and safety in the workplace stipulate that your shelving equipment must be checked regularly by a trained expert. A training course for exactly this purpose was set up to train warehouse inspectors and we were one of the first companies to be involved.
Shelves are work materials and as such, subject to regulations on health and safety in the workplace (BetrSichV). Paragraph 10 of these regulations requires regular inspections of warehouse facilities. The extent and implementation of the inspections of warehouse facilities are laid down in European standard DIN EN 15635, which requires businesses to have all their warehouse facilities systematically inspected on a regular basis.
According to the regulations on health and safety in the workplace, a suitably qualified person must inspect shelves every 12 months.
The inspection is carried out during normal operations. We make a visual inspection and check things like whether the protective measures, shelf components and loading comply with the regulations. A standardised inspection log is used and the results documented in an inspection report.
